Bentley packs its bags at North Bay Mall

Today, the Bentley store sits locked and empty with no sign on the door explaining the move to customers

In a surprise move, the Bentley luggage store in the North Bay Mall closed its doors this weekend, apparently without giving the mall managementt  or its own employees notice of its intention to do so.

Bentleys' at Northgate remains open, at least for the time being.

The beleaguered Lake Shore Drive Mall has been hit hard recently with the closing of a number of stores, including Urban Planet and Carlton Cards.

Today, the Bentley store sits locked and empty with no sign on the door explaining the move to customers.

A couple of "Extra 50%" sale signs sit forlornly outside the store, while inside only a few shelving units remain.

A mall employee says that the store closed Saturday, then a truck came in and workers started loading all the merchandise into it, then it drove off.

The employee says no notice was given to employees.

A call from BayToday to Bentley's head office seeking comment was not returned, nor was a call to the North Bay Mall ownership group.

The North Bay Mall has been in the news recently as a possible site for a new twin-pad arena.
