A pair of Battalion players will be attending Team Canada camps this summer following their head coach Ryan Oulahen.

Anthony Romani has been invited to Team Canada's National Team Summer Showcase, while Battalion 2024 first round pick Ryder Carey got the invitation to attend Hockey Canada's national under-17 development camp in Oakville.

Romani is one of 39 CHL players – four goaltenders, 13 defencemen, and 22 forwards – who have been invited to Canada’s National Junior Team Summer Showcase, July 28 to Aug. 3 at the WFCU Centre in Windsor, Ont., and south of the border in Plymouth, Mich. Of the 39 CHL players invited, the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) led the way with 18, followed by the Western Hockey League (WHL) with 16 and the Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) with five.

In 68 games, Romani had a league-leading 58 goals and 53 assists for 111 points, finishing second in the OHL scoring race. In 188 career games, Romani has 89 goals and 79 assists for 168 points.

Romani was selected in the 6th round of the 2024 NHL Entry Draft by the Vancouver Canucks.

Carey is one of the 80 players – eight goaltenders, 24 defencemen, and 48 forwards invited.

The 6'0", 174-pound forward will take the ice at Joshua’s Creek Arenas in Oakville, Ont., as part of Canada’s national under-17 development camp, set to take place July 18-24.

All 80 players have been drafted by CHL teams (39 from the OHL, 23 from the WHL, and 18 from the QMJHL),

Carey was taken in the first round, 16th overall by the North Bay Battalion in the 2024 OHL Priority Selection.

The Hamilton, Ont., product, who attended the Battalion orientation camp in April had 24 goals and 32 assists for 56 points in 34 games with the Oakville U16 AAA Rangers.

The news comes on the heels of the news that Battalion head coach Ryan Oulahen has been named an assistant coach as part of Team Canada's U18 summer team for the 2024 Hlinka Gretzky Cup.

“We are thrilled for the opportunity to host summer camps across our Program of Excellence this year and gain valuable insights into the development of our up-and-coming athletes,” said senior vice-president of high performance and hockey operations Scott Salmond.

“The athletes will gain experience in the operations of our program ahead of the 2024 U17 World Challenge, the 2024 Hlinka Gretzky Cup, and the highly-anticipated 2025 IIHF World Junior Championship in Ottawa.”
