A pair of golf courses south of North Bay were impacted significantly by the severe thunderstorm that also included a tornado warning on Friday night.

Highview Golf Course which is located just off Highway 11 in Powassan was hit the hardest.

"Due to heavy rainfall and extreme weather in the area we will be closed until further notice," Highview stated on social media Saturday morning.

Highview officials updated the status and stated "After last night’s big storm we are happy to report we’ve had no notable damages. We lost a few branches, and the course is quite wet."

Highview will permit golfers with booked tee times to come out and walk the course without power cart use, however, they are not accepting any new bookings today. They hope to be able to open normally on Sunday and Monday.

Golfers on Highview witnessed high winds, heavy rain, hail as well as what appeared to be a forming funnel cloud over top of the Powassan golf course just before 7 p.m. on Friday night.

Clear Springs Golf Course in nearby Chisholm Township is closing its front nine due to the heavy rain which that area experienced.

Meantime, Osprey Links Golf Course in Callander did not experience any storm damage.
