And Around We Go

After weeks of deliberation the issue of the proposed roundabout was put to rest tonight with the motion passing.
After weeks of deliberation the issue of the proposed roundabout was put to rest tonight with the motion passing.

Council reached the decision with a recorded vote that saw Councillors Vaillancourt, Boldt, Anthony, Mendicino and Mayor Fedeli voting against the proposal.

Councillor Anthony who voiced his concern to the project, offered the following reaction to the outcome.

“Although initially disappointed with the close vote, and the result, I am always pleased to see democracy in action. I've never been opposed to traffic roundabouts in general, but had strong concerns that this particular location was not the right spot for us to try our first one.”

“However, the council has spoken which means the people have spoken. We're ALL part of ‘Team North Bay’...so that means we move ahead together. that also means that I will support our Engineering and Works chair Councillor Kozial and our engineering and traffic staff as they work to make this project the best it can be.”

Councillor Koziol says the roundabout will be constructed in tandem with the new hospital construction at the intersection at College Drive and Gormanville Road. The roundabout came to council as a viable alternative to traffic lights to alleviate the amount of traffic backup that will occur with the new Hospital.
