Hair today gone tomorrow

Cops For Cancer on May 11, 2006 was truly a family affair.

Police Chief Paul Cook, who lost his mother to cancer, has participated in past events with his father and this year was delighted to make it a true family event with his sister offering up her locks for the cause.

Constable Rebecca McWhirter made history as the first North Bay female officer to shave her head for the Cops For Cancer event at the North Bay Mall, and right beside her all the way was her husband who also shaved his head as a sign of solidarity.

The event raised over $60,000, but a final tally has yet to be released as officials say money is still trickling in.

Officer McWhirter however, did beat her boss with $9,000 in pledges.
