Cassellholme has launched a fundraising campaign for $20,000 to acquire a tri-shaw bike for its residents and to cover the associated maintenance and volunteer training costs.

Cassellholme Home for the Aged is thrilled to announce the launch of a community-wide fundraising initiative to purchase a tri-shaw bike, designed to enhance the quality of life for its beloved residents.

The fundraising effort will incorporate Giving Tuesday in the campaign — a global day of giving and unity. Now in its 11th year, it is recognized as an
opportunity for people and communities to come together in the spirit of generosity. The first Giving Tuesday was held on Dec. 4, 2012, and the day continues to be recognized worldwide. This year Giving Tuesday will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 3.

The fundraising goal is $20,000 by Dec. 31.

Cassellholme is a vibrant long-term care community that values the well-being and happiness of its residents. The introduction of a tri-shaw bike, a specially designed three-wheeled bicycle that allows seniors to enjoy outdoor excursions with the assistance of a volunteer pilot will provide unparalleled opportunities for social interaction, physical activity, and a refreshing change of scenery.

"We believe that the tri-shaw bike will significantly enrich the lives of our residents by providing them with the freedom to explore and experience the beauty of our surroundings," said Mandy Gilchrist, the activity manager at Cassellholme. "This initiative reflects our commitment to fostering a vibrant and engaging environment for everyone at Cassellholme."

Achieving the $20,000 target will allow Cassellholme to purchase the tri-shaw bike and cover the associated costs such as maintenance and volunteer training. The community is encouraged to contribute through various means, including online donations, fundraising events, and corporate sponsorship.

The fundraising efforts of Cassellholme have already begun. To date, the home has raised approximately 20 per cent of the total goal with the majority coming in the form of memorial donations from family members of former Cassellholme residents. These family members have experienced the true enjoyment their loved ones experienced on the bike and want to ensure that current residents and family members see the positive impact the tri-shaw bike has had as well.

"We are calling on the generosity of our community members, local businesses, and supporters to help us reach this important milestone," added Gilchrist. "Your contributions will make a tangible difference in the daily lives of our residents, promoting joy, health, and well-being."

Donations can be made in person at the General Store located on the main floor of Cassellholme, online or by contacting Derek Callahan at (705) 474-4250 ext. 896 or via email at [email protected].

"Every contribution, no matter the size, brings Cassellholme one step closer to making this dream a reality for our Cassellholme family."
