The Purolator Tackle Hunger National Red Bag campaign held in North Bay from September 21-28 saw community members raise 7,467 pounds of food in support of North Bay Food Bank.

The National Red Bag campaign saw volunteers drop off red bags throughout the North Bay community on September 21, with residents asked to fill up their bags with non-perishable food items and leave them on their doorsteps on September 28 for collection by Purolator couriers.

“We put the call out to 15 communities across the country to support our second annual Purolator Tackle Hunger National Red Bag campaign and they showed incredible generosity,” said John Ferguson, President of Purolator. “Purolator Tackle Hunger has been a part of our company’s DNA for more than 20 years and we’ll continue to go the extra mile for our communities as long as there’s a need.”

"Each day, people across the country are making the heart-wrenching decision of whether to eat, pay rent, or forgo another basic essential," says  Kirstin Beardsley, CEO of Food Banks Canada.

since the inception of Purolator’s employee-led grassroots program over 20 years ago, Purolator Tackle Hunger has helped deliver more than 22 million pounds of food to Canadian food banks.
