Chief Warrant Officer John Short relinquished his appointment this week to Chief Warrant Officer Debbie Martens at 22 Wing/Canadian Forces Base North Bay.
Colonel Roberts, 22 Wing and Canadian Air Defence Sector Commander, presided over the ceremony.
“During my time as 22 Wing Commander, I consider myself very fortunate to have Chief Warrant Officer John Short serve as my wingman. His experienced counsel and sound judgment have proven invaluable to me personally and 22 Wing as a whole," said Roberts.
"Now, I am very pleased to introduce Chief Warrant Officer Debbie Martens as the incoming 22 Wing Chief Warrant Officer and I look forward to working with her to continue to move 22 Wing forward.”
Short says he's making North Bay home.
“It is with great pride and many fond memories that I say farewell to 22 Wing," said Short. At the end of this appointment, I will retire from military service and I am both humbled and grateful to have finished my career among the outstanding members of 22 Wing. I plan to remain a member of the North Bay community and I look forward to building on the relationships I have made in the time since my arrival."
Incoming Chief Warrant Officer Debbie Martens is looking forward to her return to North Bay.
“Over 20 years ago, my very first posting after initial training, was to this base. It is amazing to me that I have the honour to now lead as 22 Wing Chief Warrant Officer. As I assume my new responsibilities at 22 Wing with the support of its members and my family, I am excited by the significance of our mission and the dedication of the members of 22 Wing."
The Wing Chief Warrant Officer is the highest ranking non-commissioned member on the base, and directly advises the Wing Commander on issues pertaining to NCMs.
Chief Warrant Officer Debbie Martens enrolled in the Canadian Armed Forces in May 1989.
