LETTER: Why isn't there a middle turning lane down Lakeshore?

'I feel like the city should consider the layout of Lakeshore, as it causes more traffic problems than traffic itself'

Reader questions why busy Lakeshore doesn't have a middle turning lane.

To the editor:

Hi there, I'm new(ish) to North Bay and I just wanted to see what opinion people have of Lakeshore Dr. not having a turning lane down the middle like the Kingsway has in Sudbury?

I saw an article (a few articles actually) of complaints about the way people drive down Lakeshore and I just get the sense that Lakeshore Dr. has been ignored by this city for too long.

It is nearly identical to the Kingsway in Sudbury in that it has a McDonald's on it, various car dealerships, offices other misc. services and a large amount of traffic. Why is it that the city hasn't put a turning lane down the middle?

I see that North Bay has hired a full-time traffic officer to patrol Lakeshore. I feel like the city should consider the layout of Lakeshore as it causes more traffic problems than traffic itself.

Does anyone agree?

Just putting this out there as an observer and frequent commuter. Thanks! I hope this makes it on so people can input their opinions on this.
