To the editor:
I read that a school in Ottawa played a song (Haza Salam) about peace during Remembrance Day ceremonies and it was in Arabic. The principal was trying to be inclusive and meant well.
The problem is we need to focus on Canada during Remembrance Day ceremonies.
Yes, some of our soldiers were and are of Arabic origins but for the purpose of the celebration of the sacrifices many made we shouldn't worry about embracing our diversity but celebrate our unity. The remembrance is of Canadians fighting so Canadians can remain united and free.
I love the diversity of our country, and I love the unity of our country.
On Canada Day we celebrate diversity but on Remembrance Day the focus should remain on our military and our unity.
