LETTER: Not only transport drivers that need to be trained

Editor's note: Mr. Soenens writes in response to the BayToday story Northern MPP calls out fraudulent licensing of untrained commercial vehicle drivers in Ontario.

To the editor:

That is an interesting article about commercial drivers. It's always preferred to have these drivers trained properly but we have been noticing a lot of untrained drivers on the personal side too.

Even a high percentage of police, fire and ambulance drivers are constantly breaking safety rules on the roads. These groups should be taught because they used to be respected and used to help train others by their actions.

Now they don't even know the rules or just don't practice them.

Some actually mislead drivers with their lack of proper knowledge of the Highway Traffic Act.

This should be a much bigger concern than just commercial vehicle drivers..
