LETTER: Library not a good venue for Town Hall meeting

To the editor:

I was one of the four people who registered to make a presentation at the town hall meeting at the library on September 24.

I don't know if we were the only four who registered or the only ones excepted. There was a very low turn out as the event was not very well advertised.

I found out because as a political junkie, I follow what's on the city website. I dont know if it was advertised elsewhere.

The library was not a good venue for this. It should have been held in city council chambers which are better equipped and should have been treated as a regular Tuesday council meeting which could have been broadcast on YouTube

I was hoping that there would have been more presentations on some of the more controversial issues ie the homeless situation, lack of affordable housing, and the cost of the twin pad arena.

Hopefully, if they have another town hall meeting they will think it better through. The purpose of town hall meetings is to encourage direct democracy. It is a chance for citizens to put their two cents in. No matter what your status your voice matters
