Two Latchford seniors are dead after the boat they were fishing from capsized say OPP.
On May 24, around 11:30 a.m. police responded to a missing persons call on the Montreal River in Latchford, a 90-minute drive north of North Bay.
The OPP Underwater Search and Recovery Unit continued the search on May 25.
The men are identified as George Brunton, 90, and Robert Hachey, 74, both from Latchford.
The investigation is ongoing under the direction of the Office of the Chief Coroner and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service.
Officers of the Temiskaming Detachment of the OPP, Marine Unit, Crime Unit, the OPP Aviation Services-Helicopter Section, the OPP Traffic Incident Management Enforcement Team, and the Temiskaming Emergency Medical Services , responded to the missing persons call on the Montreal River.
"The OPP reminds all operators and passengers to carry an approved lifesaving device in your vessel or pleasure craft for each person on board. Find one that fits properly and wear it every time out on a vessel or pleasure craft," adds the release.
