A traffic stop in Huntsville with the intention of checking the sobriety of the driver paid off recently when a prohibited weapon was discovered and the vehicle occupants were failing to comply with previous conditions not to associate.

On February 27 officers of the Huntsville O.P.P. conducted the investigation, which revealed the weapon and that the vehicle occupants were on conditions not to be around each other after a drug-related occurrence earlier in the day.

Both occupants were arrested and charged accordingly.

Kyle Chapman, 36, of Armour Township is charged with:

  • Unauthorized possession of a weapon
  • Failure to comply with an undertaking
  • Possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to a prohibition order

Chapman was held for a bail hearing.

Kristen Cronkright, 32, of Huntsville is charged with:

  • Unauthorized possession of a weapon
  • Failure to comply with an undertaking

She was released with conditions and will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on March 25 at 9 a.m.

The Huntsville OPP want to advise this was an isolated incident and there is no threat to public safety.
