Police charge driver with impaired after responding to an unwanted person complaint

The individual had driven away prior to police arrival but was later located and arrested for impaired driving

On December 16 at midnight, Nipissing West OPP responded to an unwanted person at a business on Highway 17, West Nipissing.

The individual had driven away prior to police arrival but was later located and arrested for impaired driving, the driver was then transported back to the OPP detachment for further testing.

Shawn Mills, 43, from West Nipissing, is charged with:

  • Operation while impaired - alcohol
  • Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Operate a motor vehicle without insurance
  • Driving while under suspension
  • Use plate not authorized for vehicle
  • Drive motor vehicle, fail to display two plates

Mills was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on February 6 in North Bay.

The driver was issued a 90-day Administrative Driver's Licence Suspension and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
