OPP: Pickup pulling trailer clocked 42 km/h over on Highway 17

Police say the suspended driver faces a slew of Highway Traffic Act and Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act charges

Mattawa OPP charged this suspended driver with various offences including the original speeding infraction and having no mudguards.

On Oct. 7,  Mattawa OPP reports having stopped a black pickup truck that was towing a trailer while travelling 132 kilometres per hour in a posted 90 km/h zone on Highway 17 East near Bonfield. 

The 38-year-old driver from Mactier, Ont., has been charged with provincial offences under the Highway Traffic Act (HTA) and the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act (CAIA): 

  • Driving while under suspension
  • Speeding
  • Fail to surrender insurance
  • Fail to surrender a permit
  • Drive a vehicle with no validated permit
  • No mudguards

The OPP says you can expect increased patrols this weekend on roadways, trails and waterways.
