MISSING YOUTH FINALLY FOUND ON LAKE

The North Bay Police Service is pleased to report that a 17-year-old missing male youth was finally located on Lake Nipissing yesterday evening at 7 PM.

The mentally challenged youth had gone out on the Lake at approximately 4:30 PM on the family snowmobile.

Due to the day’s light coming to an end and the fact that a storm was incoming, officers of our Service commenced a search of various areas of the Lake. To complicate matters the youth wasn’t dressed appropriately for the weather and was not wearing a helmet.

The Ontario Provincial Police were called to assist as well as the Anishnabek Police Service.

Eventually one of our officers spoke to a Callander man who had just come off the Lake on a tracked vehicle. He was asked to return to the Lake area and search for the boy. The man complied and finally located the disoriented youth riding around.

Our Service would like to further add that if it was not for the actions of this Callander man the evening could have turned into a tragedy.
