OPP say one person is dead, and another person was taken to hospital after a collision on Highway 17 West near Verner early this morning.
At approximately 7 a.m., two passenger vehicles collided. One person was pronounced dead at the scene.

Highway 17 is closed in both directions during the investigation and motorists are advised to obtain information and detours, by calling 511 or by visiting the Ministry of Transportation of Ontario website at https://511on.ca/.
A detour is available from Highway 17 by using Highway 575 north, then turning left to Kipling then left on 539 back to Highway 17 near Warren.
Nipissing West OPP and Fire Services and Emergency Medical Services responded to the collision.
The investigation is ongoing with the assistance of the OPP Collision Reconstructionist and members of the Traffic Collision Investigation Team.
Police say further updates will be provided when they become available.
