UPDATE: Our food packages are now sold out thanks to the generous community. If you didn't get a chance to participate in this program, we encourage you to send your donation directly to the local food bank. Our mission at BayToday is to strengthen the communities we serve and in the spirit of strengthening the North Bay community, we are spearheading a food drive in support of the North Bay Food Bank.
The holidays can be a stressful time for many families and now more than ever, the food bank needs our help to keep the shelves stocked.
In response to that need, we asked Food Basics North Bay to donate food packages for our loyal readers to purchase for the food bank through an online pop-up store.
BayToday then matched whatever was purchased as a cash donation to the food bank.
But that’s not all.
We know that North Bay is full of caring individuals and businesses who would generously donate to this initiative as well. So, we contacted a number of local businesses to see if they would also like to match reader contributions with a cash donation.
As a result, for every food bag purchased in our pop-up store from now until Dec. 15 at 12 p.m., each dollar will be matched three times and all proceeds will go directly to the North Bay Food Bank.
That means your $25 donation will turn into a $100 donation!
Here is how you can buy a food package in support of the North Bay Food Bank:
- Log in to your BayToday account (or register for free).
- Select a food package you would like to donate and enter your credit card details.
- Check the 'Confirm’ button and click ‘Donate’ to confirm your purchase.
- That's it, you did it! You gave back to our community this holiday season.
Thanks to Food Basics North Bay for donating the food packages, and Leon’s North Bay and Northern Honda who have joined us in matching each donation.
BayToday is proud to lead this worthwhile cause in an effort to reduce hunger and poverty in our community, particularly as the holiday season draws near.
Programs like this and support from businesses and community members - like you - help us to give back to North Bay.
