The Powassan Voodoos scored three times in less than five minutes in the second period as they defeated the Elliot Lake Wildcats 5-1 at Centennial Arena in Elliot Lake Friday night.
The Voodoos showed their speed and transition game and they scored twice on the power play in the victory.
Dayton Murray and Eric Nagy scored the power play markers as they scored on two of their six power play opportunities.
Francois Lemelin, Andy Baker, and Cade Herd did the rest of the scoring as the visitors built up a 5-0 lead in the third period.
Curtis Rawn spoiled the shutout bid for Voodoos goalie Owen LIskiewicz in his NOJHL debut as he turned away 22 shots in the Voodoos first win of the season.
Third year Voodoos forward Tyler Gervais-Rolfe contributed a pair of assists in the win. Nagy and veteran Francois Lemelin both finished with one goal and one assist each.
The Voodoos, who came into the pre-season rankings at #11 in the CJHL national rankings, finished the game outshooting the home side 46-23.
The Voodoos will be back on home ice for their home opener Saturday night when they host the French River Rapids.
