Vision 14U Girls Capture Silver Medal at Ontario Volleyball Championships

The Vision Girls are now in preparation for the Canadian 14U Nationals which will be held in Ottawa in May.

The Vision 14U Girls Volleyball Team captured the Tier 2 Division 1 Silver Medal at the Ontario Volleyball`s Championship last weekend held at RIM Park in Waterloo. Starting in Tier 2 Division 2 and initially ranked 49 out of 109 teams the squad finished  their initial  round robin matches 2–1 on Friday (defeating ACTS Elites 25-15, 25-26 and Orillia Suns Eclipse 25-21,25-22 and losing to Defensa 25-22,25-14).

With that loss the team finished 2nd in their pool. Saturday, the Vision squad posted a perfect 3–0 record defeating Niagara Rapids Black 13U 25-22 and 25-19; Stratford Stingers 25–11 and 25–15; DRVC 25–10 and 25–11 winning their pool and qualifying in Tier 2 Division 1 for Sundays playoffs. 

Sunday`s win or go home format saw the Vision Team defeat the Georgian Cubs in the Round of 16 2 – 1 (25-17, 15-25, 15-8) to advance to the quarter-finals where they defeated the Georgetown Impact Black 2-1 (25-21, 23-25, 15-12). In the semi-final match the team continued their competitiveness defeating Forest City Pines from London 19-25, 25-20, 15-13.

This set up a repeat of Friday`s match against Defensa, with the Southern Ontario team defeating Vision 26-24 and 25–19. 

Team members include Sofia Berardi, Bronwyn Bourre, Logan Thompson, Tori Gravelle, Olivia Gauthier, Meadow Gillespie, Rachael Point, Holly Haines, Carlie Pappano and Mia Bedard. The 14U team is coached by Genie Thompson, Len Pappano and John Jeffries. 

The Vision Girls are now in preparation for the Canadian 14U Nationals which will be held in Ottawa in May. 

The 14U team will practice three times a week in order to compete against  teams from across Canada.
