Views from Section 9 - Pinehill Reunion

Since my last view the Edmonton Oil Kings are Memorial Cup champs by defeating the Guelph Storm 6-3 in the championship game.

The North Bay Junior Trappers have relocated to Mattawa and will be known as the Mattawa Blackhawks.

A new Junior club for the NOJHL league have filed an entry and will be playing out of the Powassan Arena and will be known as the Voo Doos. The new Junior team will be affiliated with the Junior Battalion. T

he Voodoos personnel  and sponsors are first class and should be a positive entry for the league.

After 4 months of searching, I have finally got my hands on the Pinehill Coffee Shop banners.

The two banners (1984 OHA Midget AAA Champs and the CAHA Canadian championship banner), along with other North Bay victory banners were hanging on the north wall at the Gardens above the Hall of Fame room.

I am so relieved that they are now in my possession.

Why? Well, next weekend (the 19th and 20th) the Pinehill hockey team is having a 30-year reunion.

A few local members of the team (Darren, Brent Bywater and Mike Gillies along with Sean Clifford now in BC) have organized the reunion. Festivities will be at the Clarion Resort,  (including a round of golf).

I hope that the turnout is favorable. If you would like to swing around and celebrate with us, you are more than welcome.
