U18BB Jr. Lakers win another gold

The U18BB team brought home another gold medal after a perfect 6-0-0 weekend in Brantford where they outscored their opponents 24-4 through six games.

The North Bay Junior Lakers U18BB team had another successful tournament weekend as they travelled to Brantford to take part in the 42nd Annual Walter Gretzky Tournament. 

The U18BB team brought home another gold medal after a perfect 6-0-0 weekend in Brantford where they out scored their opponents 24-4 through six games.

To kick off the weekend the Lakers picked up a 2-0 win over the Kingston Ice Wolves, later in the day they defeated the host Ice Cats 6-0 to improve to 2-0-0. In their final round robin game the Junior Lakers defeated the Guelph Junior Gryphons 4-2, to earn a first-place finish in pool A. 

On Saturday night the Junior Lakers took on the Hamilton Hawks in the quarter-finals where they skated to a 5-1 win earning a spot in the semi-finals on Sunday afternoon. 

In the semi-finals the Junior Lakers once again found themselves up against the host Brantford Ice Cats, this time in a bit of a closer game, but the Lakers came out on top with a 3-0 win. 

In the Championship game, North Bay found themselves up against the team that finished first place in Pool B, the Brampton Canadettes.

Brampton finished the round robin with a 2-1-0 record, they picked up a 3-0 quarter-final win and a 4-1 semi-final win en route to the championship game.

The Junior Lakers battled hard in the championship game earning a 4-1 win to cap off the perfect weekend.
