The North Bay U15 AA Trappers made their mark in Michigan last weekend at the International Silver Stick, catching the eye of several teams from Canada and the USA.
In game one, Charlie Hayne had three goals as the Trappers fell to Ohio 5-3. Helpers in the opener went to Maddox Gedanitz, Ethan Roy, Michael Dech, Aydin Beharie, and Ben Brunton.
Looking for a win, the Trappers bit back 4-2 against Colorado. Scott Szczygiel started the scoring, followed by Hayne, then Ben Brunton grabbed the game winner. Szczygiel added another to give the boys a convincing win. Long-time linemates Mathias Moar (3), and Logan Meunier provided the assists.
With a need for a win, the Trappers met up with the Mississauga Jets. Ben Brunton started the scoring with a highlight reel goal from between his legs, unassisted. Cam Lockhart potted his first of the tournament shortly after, giving the Trappers a 2-0 lead, assisted by linemates Colton Loiselle and Brunton.
Unable to hang on to the lead, the Trappers fell 3-2 to the Jets.
In consolation action, the Trappers faced off against South Florida, Szczygiel started the scoring with assists from Brunton and Dech. Cam Lockhart grabbed another, with assists from Aydin Beharie and Brunton. Florida tied it up, before Brunton scored the game winner with 26 seconds left on the clock, unassisted. Lockhart tossed it in the open net from Brunton, to seal the victory and send the Trappers home with a 2-2 record at the International Silver Stick.
This team heads into a break, before resuming regular season game play on February 11 in Sudbur
