Major Peewee Trappers even in their semifinal series

Meantim, the Atlas Copco Major Peewee AAA Trappers are tied one game apiece in their NOHL best of five semi final series with the Nickel City Sons after a dramatic come from behind 4-3 OT win on Sunday in Levack.

In game 1 on Saturday the Sons jumped out to a 4-1 lead on route to posting a 6-4 victory. The Trappers had goals from Chase Lefebvre, Tyler Desmarais, Brett Richardson and Nico Laforge. Caelan McAuliffe and Caleb Sanders split duties in the pipes for the Trappers.

In game 2 Sunday the Trappers trailed 2-1 late before the Sons also added an empty net goal with 1:50 remaining.

However, the Trappers would not quit and got two goals from Todd Violette with 64 and 37 seconds remaining respectively, with the Trappers goaltender pulled, to tie the game and send it to overtime.

That set the stage for Laforge to be the overtime hero with his second of the game 27 seconds into OT to send the Trappers home for games three and four next weekend.

Sanders was between the pipes for the Trappers Sunday.

Game three is scheduled for 5pm Saturday at West Ferris arena and game four is on Sunday at 11 a.m. also at West Ferris.
