The Dave’s Heating and Cooling U15 Trappers opened their NOHL regular season at home this weekend hosting the Sudbury Nickel Capitals.
On Saturday the Trappers lost a tough decision by a score of 4-2. The Trappers received goals from Ryan Daze and Briir Long. Assists were picked up by Andre Mondoux, Jackson Culin and Bryden Shank. Jackson Curran suffered the loss despite a strong performance between the pipes.
On Sunday afternoon the Trappers rebounded to defeat their Highway 17 rival with a shutout performance by Owan Heroux. The Traps got goals from Daze, Brant Romaniuk (1G,1A), Simon Toupin (1G,1A) and Cohan Paquette. Hudson Prisco-Duquette played a solid two way game and chipped in with two helpers. Will Hanselman also assisted on the goal by Paquette. The U15 Trappers are now off until they attend the Big Nickel Tournament in Sudbury November 5-7. Other team members include Matt Seguin, Cameron Popp, Cameron Piette, Owen Head, Tyler Brunet, Mason Rotondo and affiliate player Sam Rivet.
The U14 Trappers met up with the Nickel City Sons to start off the season. Game one found the Trappers down, before Aydin Beharie scored an unassisted backhand goal after pinching in from the point. The Sons held on to the lead, leaving with a win after the first contest. Ben Brunton opened the scoring in game two, after a pass from behind the net from long time linemate Cam Lockhart. The Trappers were not able to hang on to the lead, resulting in the Sons taking both games of the weekend's set.
