The Lakers men and women’s hockey teams both faced losses during their double header action at Memorial Gardens on Friday night.
The Lakers women dropped a 6-5 OT decision at the hands of the York Lions.
The Lakers fought back from two-goal deficits twice to tie the game, but eventually came up short in the extra period, taking home a single point in the process.
Kaley Tienhaara, Natalie Graham, Zosia Davis, Brianna Gaffney and Kaitlyn McManus scored in the OT setback.
Meantime, the Lakers fell 5-3 to Concordia on the back end of Friday’s double header.

The Lakers created some awareness for Mental Health on Friday night as they hosted Lakers Break the Ice on Mental Health night, which included silent auctions a chuck-a-puck and other contests.
Moving on to the court, the Lakers varsity men’s basketball team lost 86-70 tonight to Waterloo on the road. Marvin Ngonadi led the way with 17, Jordan Roberts and Marcus Lewis each had 16. Nipissing faces Laurier on the road tomorrow night at 8pm.
The Lakers women fell 78-63 to the Waterloo Warriors on the road. Jamie Soffer had a big game for the Lakers, posting 19 points and 11 rebounds, while Michaela Branker had 17 points in tonight's contest.
The Lakers remain on the road to face Laurier Saturday night at 6pm.
In Volleyball, the Lakers men The Lakers fell 3-2 Friday night in a very entertaining game to Toronto. Steve Wood had a huge night, picking up 26 kills and Curtis MacPherson had 15. Nipissing wraps up the first semester with a match against Ryerson Saturday at 8 p.m.
The women came up short, losing 3-0 to the powerful Toronto Varsity Blues Friday night at home.
Stephanie Armstrong was strong with 10.5 points in tonight's match. Olivia Robinson added 8.5 points and Averi Bodnar had 6.5 versus Toronto.
Nipissing remains at home to close out the first semester Saturday night versus Ryerson. The match starts at 6 p.m. at the RJS Athletic Centre.
