OCAA Women's Fastball - Canadore slips by Cambrian

Chantal Pelletier’s long single in the bottom of the eighth inning gave the Canadore Panthers a 5-4 win Wednesday night in Ontario Colleges Athletic Association women’s fastball at Kelly Field.

With the score tied 4-4 after the regulation seven innings, the teams went into the international tie-breaker formula in the top of the eighth.

The visiting Cambrian College Shield of Sudbury loaded the bases, but could not deliver a run.

In the bottom half of the eighth, Pelletier lined a solid drive to deep left to score Steph Bourassa from second base with the winning run.

Leigh Ann Taylor went the distance to record the win. Taylor allowed four hits.

Lynsey Snowball and Amanda Brousseau had two hits each for the Panthers with Pelletier, Bourassa, Taylor, Emily Petterson and Mallory Parent adding singles.

The Panthers are now 2-5 on the season and host the Seneca Sting of Toronto in a doubleheader starting at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Kelly Field.
