The Widdifield Wildcats got off to a strong start at the NOSSA boys hockey tournament starting the tournament with back to back 5-1 wins over the Korah Colts of Sault Ste. Marie and St. Charles Cardinals of Sudbury on day one on Monday.

Meantime the NDA champion Chippewa Raiders  finished with a tie and a loss as they dropped a 1-0 decision to the Colts and tied the Cardinals 3-3.

Action resumes today at Memorial Gardens as the Raiders and Wildcats clash at 9 a.m. this morning.

The final takes place at 4:30 p.m.

Of note, the school bus cancellations due to freezing rain will not impact today's schedule.

Girls NOSSA at Pete Palangio Arena

At Pete Palangio, the Girls congregated for the NOSSA girls hockey championship as both the St. Joseph-Scollard Hall Bears and the Algonquin Barons are competing.

The Bears are 1-1 after beating the Barons 1-0 and then falling 3-0 to Notre Dame from Sudbury.

The Barons are winless thanks to the 1-0 setback against the local rival Bears and a 5-4 shootout loss to the Lockerby Vikings Monday afternoon.
