Registration is now open for the North Bay Spartans basketball club’s fall youth 3-on-3 league. The program for boys and girls runs for 8 weeks beginning Sept 4th for players born in 2006 and 2007 and Sept 8th for players born from 2008 to 2011.
Club president Michael Mitchell believes the eight-week program is good for new and experienced players alike.
“The 3-on-3 format gives players the opportunity to work on their fundamentals under the guidance of our rep coaches and apply what they’ve learned during the tournaments that we have every session,” Mitchell said.
“We make sure the kids play a lot because that’s when they are learning and getting better."
Program coordinator Sean Madigan says the key to the program’s success is great coaching and fun.
“Our lead coaches, Sam Levac, Carissa Poulin and Tori Martin have played and coached basketball at very high levels and they are teachers who know how to communicate with children and bring out their potential," said Madigan.
"The learning environment is very positive, musical and fun.”
Registration is $125, with the Spartans offering a $25 discount for additional athletes from the same family. The venues for the program are Chippewa and West Ferris.
