Five athletes from the North Bay Ski Racing Club (NBSRC) competed in the U14 Ontario Cup Provincial Finals hosted by Alpine Ontario.
Top 20 results were turned in by Grant Park (10th, men’s super G), Finley Prisco (11th, women’s super G) and Lexine Gauthier (15th, women’s giant slalom).
Thomas Chute and Leighton Moore also earned personal bests in their completed events.
The competition, held last week in Collingwood, hosted athletes from all four Alpine Ontario divisions (98 men, 82 women) where they battled it out in four days of competition in super G, giant slalom, slalom and dual slalom.
“It’s been incredible to see the growth of our North Bay Ski Racing team, not only in the number of members, but in the competitiveness of our athletes at a provincial level,” says NBSRC Head Coach, Jenna De Genova.
“We haven’t seen results like this in years and last week’s standings are a real testament to the dedication and calibre of our athletes.”
Next month, Coach De Genova will be travelling with some of the U14 athletes to the Whistler Cup. This prestigious international youth alpine ski race is held annually in Whistler, British Columbia, and the only event of its kind in North America. The Whistler Cup attracts top young alpine ski racers from across the world, particularly in the U14 and U16 age categories, providing athletes with the opportunity to compete against the best in their age group on an international stage.
