The North Bay Lynx U13 Girls team, part of the North Bay Selects Soccer Club, went undefeated and won gold in the U14 division of the “17e édition de la Coupe de l'Outaouais” soccer tournament in Gatineau, Quebec this past weekend.
Play began early Saturday morning with the Lynx finishing in a 0-0 draw vs. Drakkar De Val-Des-Monts. The Lynx found the net in their second game of the day versus Les Rebelles de Cantley, winning 6-0.
This win was enough to push them direct to the semi-finals on Sunday morning where they came out strong again, beating Eclairs Aylmer 3-0.
The final game came late Sunday afternoon vs. St-Eustache. Both teams fought hard with the match ending in a 2-2 tie. The Lynx came out on top in penalty kicks thanks to goals by Tess Matthews and Prezzley Hutchison and a stellar performance by goalie Hannah Renaud.
The Lynx are led by Head Coach Tom Brotherston, Assistant Coach Daniel Goulet and Manager Jen L'Ami.
