NDA Sr. Football: Barons hold off Trojans

Barons finish off a perfect 4-0 regular season.

Barons quarterback Dayne Meyer threw a pair of touchdowns strikes to Matt Berube and Matt Desbiens as the Algonquin Barons defeated the West Ferris Trojans 21-7 under the lights at the Mike O'Shea field at the Steve Omischl Sports Complex on Friday night.  

Desbiens stepped up at quarterback for Meyer in the second quarter and without any game experience, completed 4 passes for 60 yards and a touchdown strike to Owen Shillington.

Desbiens finished his impressive night as well with 125 rushing yards. 

Jesse Daniw had the lone touchdown for the Trojans.

Defensively, the Barons Liam Cosgrove had 2 tackles for loss, while Sam Pannell had 4 tackles with 2 tackles for loss, 1 sack and a pass defended,  

Jacob McGill led the charge with 7 tackles, 2 Tackles for loss, and a forced fumble, Mat Séguin had 4 tackles. The Barons Brady Wood and Wesley Strength Dupuis had 1 interception each.

With the win, the Barons improve to a perfect 4-0 and secure a bye into the NDA Senior Football final which will take place Friday, November 1. 

With the loss, the Trojans fall to 0-4 and will face the St. Joseph-Scollard Hall Bears in the NDA semi-final next Friday at Cundari Field.
