It has been a busy month for Elite Alpine Ski Cross, resulting in several visits to the podium. The club has entered several different events all around Ontario ranging from U8 right through to FIS/Open. A few of our FIS athletes entered their first FIS NOR/AM SX race in Calabogie February 16-19 and continued in Sir Sams Feb 21-22. Athletes from Canada, USA, Great Britain, Australia and Japan attended this event.

EASX's Cameron Grey managed to stay in the top 15 throughout the 2 events, and Trevor Smith staying in the top 20's. It was a great experience for the athletes and it has helped them set new goals, as they see that they can be on top in the FIS/NORAM circuit in Canada.

O-Cup Race #3 Horseshoe Valley: Elite Alpine Ski Cross entered in its 3rd O-Cup SX event on Feb 24 - 25 with some great results. Despite the less than perfect conditions, the team walked away with several medals, again. Leah Dufresne (U16) winning Bronze, Ben Dufresne (U14) winning Bronze and Austin McLaren-Stewart (U12) winning Silver.

U19 Ontario Winter Games:

Colton Eggert and Cameron Gray qualified and entered the Ontario Winter Games last week held in Orillia, Ontario. Over a 3-day period, the event hosted a Panelled Slalom (day 1), Ski Cross (day 2), Slalom (day 3). The two athletes placed in the top 15 in Panelled Slalom, despite not racing Slalom in the last 2 years. In the Ski Cross event, Colton Eggert fought his way to the big finals placing 4th in exciting race with 2 different crashes. Colton, unfortunately, got tied up with another athlete from another team costing him 2nd place.

Cameron Gray who was not 100% had a tough day, finishing in the middle of the pack. The event had some amazing racing and was very exciting for both the athletes and the spectators.  Both athletes decided to pull out of the third day to allow for some rest and time to prepare for the upcoming O-Cup Series Provincials at Beaver Valley.
