Major Ringette tourney back in North Bay

The West Ferris Ringette Association is hosting the Northeastern Ontario ringette championship in North Bay from March 11-13, 2022.  The event will draw an estimated one thousand players, coaching staff, family members and fans into the area.

Opening games are at 8:15 and 9 a.m. on Friday, March 11 at  West Ferris Arena and Pete Palangio Arena.

Organizers say playoff games and awards ceremony will take place on Sunday starting at 9 a.m. at Pete Palangio arena with the final game at 3:30 pm on Sunday, March 13th.

This year marks the first regional tournament in three seasons.  West Ferris was set to host the regional tournament in March 2020, but it was cancelled due to COVID-19 restrictions, as was the tournament in 2021.

The tournament will feature 28 teams competing in 5 divisions, from the Under-10 group to an Adults (18+) Division. Teams are registered from seven different ringette associations across Northeastern Ontario, including local WFRA teams competing in every division. One team in the 18+ division is travelling from Thunder Bay to be part of the only regional tournament in Northern Ontario.

Friday, March 11th: Opening games are at 8:15 and 9 a.m. on Friday, March 11th at West Ferris Arena and Pete Palangio Arena. Games run throughout the day at both West Ferris and Pete Palangio areas, with the final games starting at 3 pm at West Ferris and 7:30 pm at Pete Palangio

Saturday, March 12th: Games run from 8 am until 7 pm at Pete Palangio and from 9 am until 7 pm at West Ferris. A feature of the day will be a U16 division exhibition game between West Ferris and Valley East at 1 pm at Pete Palangio Arena.  

Sunday, March 13th:  Play-off games and awards ceremony are on Sunday starting at 9 a.m. at Pete Palangio arena with the final game at 3:30 pm on Sunday, March 13th
