The North Bay Badminton Team took part in its first provincial Jr B level tournament last weekend at the Kitchener-Waterloo Badminton Club.
This tournament is part of a series of tournaments that lead up to the Jr B Provincial Championships in May 2016. The tournament drew over 100 athletes from the GTA, including the North Bay players in U13, U15, U17, and U19 boys and girls events.
This was the first time that the team has ever participated in this level of tournament, and coach Kurt Tempelmans Plat couldn't have been more impressed.
"We knew this would be tougher than any event we have competed at before," said Tempelmans Plat.
"The kids we were up against have the opportunity to train multiple days a week with high quality training programs. I was impressed with our performance, and it really showed that our program in North Bay is capable of keeping up with those across the province. The team really showed that they were there to compete, and that their training has been paying off. I am very excited to see where I can take the program moving forward."
Here are the tournament results:
U17 Girls' Singles
Ellen Perry - 3rd
