It will be a busy weekend for the Nipissing Lakers women’s and men’s hockey programs this weekend, both on and off the ice.

Both teams will play a pair of games – the women host the York Lions Friday night and the Brock Badgers Saturday, while the men are on the road Friday, taking on the Laurentian Voyageurs, before returning home Saturday for the rematch with their northern rivals.

Both teams will be looking for big wins so they can continue their climb up the OUA standings, but they’re also taking part in a great fundraising event.

The annual Lakers Hockey Scotiabank Pink The Rink is back and takes place Saturday as part of a double-header.

Things will begin with the Women's Hockey game at 4:30 p.m. versus the Badgers and the Men will follow at 7 p.m., taking on their closest rivals, the Voyageurs.

On top of some great action on the ice, there will be a silent auction for game worn jerseys, chuck-a-puck at intermissions of both games with great prizes available and an on-ice shootout for even more giveaways.

Fans are encouraged to wear pink to support a great cause.

Proceeds will be going towards the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation.

For students on residence, there will be a bus travelling to and from Memorial Gardens just before puck-drop of both games.

Tickets are available in advance for $5 each. Fans will get a voucher which they can redeem for an actual ticket at the Memorial Gardens box office on game day.

Or tickets can be purchased at regular prices at the door of Memorial Gardens prior to the actual games that day.
