On May 11th, 1994 the North Bay Centennials became OHL Champions winning the title over the Detroit Jr. Red Wings with a thrilling Jason Campeau overtime winner.
Fast forward 23 years and the North Bay Centennials are champions again!
The North Bay Minor Atom AA Centennials spring team defeated Nice Stix Hockey 6-2 in the Platinum Championship to win the 2017 Toronto Quest for the Cup tournament.
The Cents, coached ironically by former Sudbury Wolves forward Marc Long, finished the tourney with five wins and a loss en route to victory.
The Centennials opened the tourney on Friday with a 3-2 setback at the hands of Belle Tire. The Cents rebounded Friday night with a convincing 5-0 win over the HTA Lightning.
On Saturday the winning continued as the Cents beat the Limestone River Kings 5-1 and then upended the Ontario Selects 6-1 to clinch a spot in the semi-finals.
On Sunday morning the Cents punched their ticket to the final with a 4-0 over the Young Guns.
Grayden Robertson-Palmer led the Centennials attack with 12 goals and three assists during the weekend tournament while Briir Long contributed four goals and six assists in the six games.
