Bulldogs Report: NFC Senior Men's and U14 Dogs with weekend wins

North Bay Bulldogs U16 Junior Varsity and U14 Bantams are both back in action on Sunday at Mike O'Shea Field

It was a good weekend of football for multiple North Bay Bulldogs football teams. 

The North Bay Senior Bulldogs improved to 3-0 on the season with a 39-21 win over the Sudbury Spartans on Saturday night. The passing attack was lethal for the Bulldogs who had three passing touchdowns from Jordan Heather and one from Ethan Estabrooks in the victory.  

The Senior Bulldogs are back in action on July 8 when they host the Sault Ste. Marie Steelers. 

Bulldogs U16 fall to Spartans 

The JV Bulldogs had a solid road performance Saturday afternoon against the Sudbury Spartans in Sudbury, but eventually fell 41-21,

The game was a tight one for the most part, with the Bulldogs trailing 14-7 at the half and 21-14 going into the fourth quarter. A few miscues on offence and defence led to 3 unanswered scores by the home Spartans.  

Defensively, Max Dufresne paced the Bulldogs with 2 Interceptions, 1 fumble recovery and team-leading 6 solo tackles. Troy Cormier added an interception as well and Mat Seguin 5 tackles, including 2 for a loss. 

Offensively quarterback Dayne Meyer paced the Dogs going 11 for 21, with 161 yards, 2 touchdowns (one rushing, one passing) and one interception.

Luke Braceland scored a 30-yard rushing touchdown while Mathieu Desbiens added another on a 43-yard catch and run. Grayden McFarlane, Nick Corbeil and Mat Berube had multiple receptions for the Dogs.  

The Bulldogs (0-3) will now face the visiting Etobicoke Eagles at O’Shea Field next Sunday, June 25 at 4 p.m. 

Dominant win for Bulldogs U14 

The Bantam Bulldogs U14 team went on the road for their first away game and came back with their first win 40-0 over the TNT U14 Express at Mel Mitchell Field in New Tecumseh on Sunday. 

The win puts the U14 Bulldogs record to 1-1. 

Receiver Teodor Nadeau led the team in scoring with over 150 yards, 14 points along with a number of key blocks. Owen Landry made some great plays scoring two touchdowns. Evan Smetana ran back a touchdown on a punt return. Nathan Boucher scored a major as well. Reilly MacDonald got two points after to round out the scoring. 

Defensively Cam Smetana earned himself a fumble recovery. Nate Major created a forced fumble. Porter Herman McKay lead the defence with 1 interception, 2 forced fumbles, 5 tackles for a loss, 1 sack, and 15 or more tackles.  

Gage Campaigne, named defensive player of the week last week, made some tough runs inside and also played both sides of the ball once again leading the team to a win.

This week the U14 Bulldogs are at home Sunday, June 25 at Steve Omischl complex against the Etobicoke Eagles at 1:30 p.m.
