A pair of North Bay Battalion players had their name pop up on the NHL Central Scouting Watch list which was released today.

Forward Zach Poirier and defenceman Cam Dineen both made the list at ‘C’ rated players, meaning they are projected to be selected in the 4th to 6th round of the NHL Entry Draft next June.

The two youngsters played for their respective countries at the Ivan Hlinka Under-18 Memorial Cup back in August, where Poirier and Head Coach Stan Butler captured gold with Team Canada.

Cam Dineen, who played for Team USA’s U-18 squad, came home without a medal.

Poirier was the Battalion’s first choice in the 2014 OHL Priority Selection.

Meantime, Dineen was taken in the 11th round of the 2014 OHL Priority Selection by the Battalion and was taken 3rd overall by the Tri-City Storm in the 2014 USHL Futures Draft.

The Battalion announced in June that Dineen was joining their blue line after originally committing to play for Yale University in the NCAA.

Last season defenceman Riley Bruce was the lone Battalion player to be drafted as he was taken in the 7th round by the Calgary Flames in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft which took place in Sunrise, Florida back in June.
