It is with deep sorrow that the family of Corry announce her peaceful passing at the North Bay Regional Health Centre on Friday November 15, 2024, with her daughter by her side, at the age of 87 years.

She was the beloved wife of 66 years to Albert G. Van Hoye. Loving mother of Yvonne (Robert Sears) and Linda (Marc Savoie). She will be sadly missed by her five Grandchildren, Jason Sears (Megan), Justin Sears (Sarah), Lindsay Harrison (Andrew), Donald Harrison (Priscilla) and Kenneth Harrison (Ashley) and also by her five Great Grandchildren Mya, Payten, Brynn, Quinn and August.

Corry is also survived by three of her eight siblings Piet Van Dort (Marja), Jan Van Dort (Rini) and Ria Tukker.

Corry was born in the Netherlands, one of nine children to Cornelis (Kees) and Cornelia (Cor) (nee van den Bosch) Van Dort, on April 5, 1937. Corry and Albert met when she was 17 and they were married when she was 21, March 14, 1959. Soon after, they boarded a ship and immigrated to Canada arriving in Halifax April 5, 1959. They made homes in Toronto, Ajax, Orillia and finally in North Bay area in 1983. Albert and Corry owned and operated South Shore Outdoor Sports in Callander from 1992 until their retirement 2012. She loved her gardens, flowers, boating on Lake Nipissing and music. Corry was very talented and creative at stained glass, sewing, knitting, crochet, cooking and baking. Her greatest love was for her family and spending time with them.

We wish to thank the staff at NBRHC in Emergency and on B3 for her excellent care and Dr Vigars. Also, for the compassionate care of The Seniors Mental Health Program, Salina Mathur, Dr. Salako and Dr. Tuomi, North Bay Cardiology.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to NBRHC Foundation Cardiac & Stroke Care.

Cremation has taken place, as per Corry’s wishes there will be no service. A private family gathering will be held at a later date.
