STEVENS, Barbara Jean,

Born in Vancouver passed away peacefully In the Palliative Care Unit of the North Bay General Hospital.   Barbara will be sadly missed by her friends in North Bay, and her relatives in New York City and Vancouver.  Barbara enjoyed an illustrious career as a registered nurse, working in Vancouver, Toronto, Montreal and Wales, in a variety of nursing capacities.  Her late husband, Clifton Whiten was a noted Canadian poet and founder of Poetry Canada Review.  ‘Barbie’ found much solace in music, friendship, and engaging conversation, and when the occasion arose with friends, red wine.  Her dog Joshua was her constant companion over the last few years.   Barbara requested that in lieu of a memorial service, she would welcome donations to All Heart Pet Rescue (www.ontariopetrescue.com/index.html) or the Canadian Mental Health Association (www.cmha.ca/).
