Jean passed away peacefully with family by her side, in her lovely room, at the Waters Edge Care Community, on January 3, 2025.

Jean was predeceased by her beloved husband Gordon, and her much-loved son Paul. She was a loving mother-in-law and friend to Paul’s wife Lynn and wonderful grandmother to their children Samantha (Marco), Paul (Adele), and Tracey (Matt); and great-grandmother to Theo, Evelyn, and Ellie. Jean was a loving mother to her sons Colin (Oksana), and Steven (Michele).

Jean was born in Yorkshire, England in 1929. Although she grew up in the unpleasant times of the war, a fond memory for her was tagging along with her two older sisters, who volunteered at the nearby Royal Air Force Station canteen. A few years passed before she met Gordon, who had been in the RAF in Africa at the closing of the war. They married in 1952, and in 1957, with two-year-old Paul in hand, they waved good-bye to family and friends, and departed for Canada on a steamship.

Jean was loved by all of the friends and neighbours she had over the years. She was warm, caring, and kind. She enjoyed spending time in the backyard working with the plants and flowers in her English rock garden, and was always ready for a cup of tea and a chat. Her lovely smile and beautiful accent will be remembered by all who knew her.

The family would like to thank the staff who cared for Jean at the Waters Edge.

If desired, donations to the Alzheimer Society, or the North Bay Humane Society would be greatly appreciated by the family.

Friends may call at the Martyn Funeral Home from 2:00 to 3:00 pm on January 16, 2025, followed by a Funeral Service at 3:00pm.
