It is with profound sadness that the family announces the passing of Don Simmens at the North Bay Regional Health Centre on March 9, 2025 at the age of 87 following a lengthy battle with Alzheimers . Don was predeceased by his parents Mary and George Simmens and by his sister Norma. He was the beloved husband of Elaine Simmens for 54 years and the cherished father of David, Kirk and Glenn. His passing leaves a great hole in our hearts

Don was born on January 1, 1938, in North Bay. He began working for Ferris Hydro immediately following his graduation and continued with North Bay Hydro until he retired in 1993.

Don was an avid hunter, fisherman, and gardener. He enjoyed socializing with his wide circle of friends and loved to travel to warmer climates. He was passionate about antique cars and was a collector of many things. He was a founding member of the NRRC and was a member of the Canadian Legion and the Masons.

Special thanks to Dr Stacey, Nurse Debbie, and the kind and capable hospital staff on A3 for their compassionate care.

A Memorial Visitation for Don will be held on Friday, March 14, 2025, from 6:00pm-8:00pm and on Saturday March 15, 2025, from 10:00am-12:00pm at the Martyn Funeral Home (464 Wyld St. North Bay) with a Memorial Service to follow in the Martyn Chapel at 12:00pm.
