SHARKEY, Charles

(1934-2021) - Charles passed away at the North Bay Regional Health Centre on Monday April 12, 2021 at the age of 86, following a short illness.

He was the beloved husband of 65 years to Jean Sharkey (nee Cundari). Dear father of Mark (Lynn), Dean (Kim), Jo-Ann (Tim) and Brian (Lise). “Popi” Sharkey will be fondly remembered by his 9 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Predeceased by his siblings Harold (Jacqueline-deceased), Bob (Anita-deceased), Florence (Leif Pedersen), Ida Berthelot (Joe-deceased), Laura Filion (Albert-deceased), Irene Rochefort, Raymond , Alice (Pit Rochefort) and Harry Sharkey and his parents Leo and Caroline (nee Major)Sharkey.

Charles was a dedicated firefighter for the City of North Bay for over 31 years. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He was a loving husband, caring father & grandfather. He will be fondly remembered as “Poppi” by many children. His loss will leave a tremendous void for the family and in the community.

Family receiving friends at HILLSIDE FUNERAL SERVICES, 362 Airport Rd. on Friday April 16th, 2021 from 2 until 4 pm and 6 until 8 pm. A funeral mass will be held at St Peter the Apostle Church on Saturday April 17th, 2021 at 11 am.

In accordance with current COVID 19 directives from the Bereavement Authority of Ontario the total number of attendees at the funeral home and the church is limited and is by scheduled appointment only. Please contact the funeral home (705 474-7655) to RSVP your attendance at the funeral home and/or the church. Face masks are mandatory. In lieu of flowers, donations to St Peter’s Building Fund will be greatly appreciated by his family.
