It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the passing of Arthemise Prieur at the Queenswood Retirement Villa on Wednesday September 25, 2024, at the age of 98. Arthemise is Predeceased by her husband Popeye and survived by her Children, Ronald (Julie), Darcy (Rose), Robert (Somlak), Susan (Rick), Deborah (Paul- Deceased), Rod (Wendy), and by her Grandchildren, Jeffrey, Steven, Arlene, Cherie- Lynn, Eric, Tom, Cindy, Marc, Joanne, Michael, Sarah, Candice, Cassey, Dan, Kyle. Also survived by 27 Great-Grandchildren and 11 Great-Great Grandchildren. Predeceased by her Great Grandchild Renee and her dearest friend Ensio Laakkonen.

Arthemise was born in Garson, Ontario on May 16, 1926, and lived there most of her life until moving to North Bay in 1987 and finally in Ottawa for her remaining few years. Growing up on a farm, Arthemise persevered hard times and lived through several world catastrophic events such as The Spanish Flue, The Great Depression and World War 2. From these experiences, Arthemise became the strong character that we all knew, depended on and loved.

Arthemise’s ( Art’s ) passions were… Sewing, Crafting, Gardening and enjoying the outdoors!

Arthemise was a generous volunteer at several venues including Leisureworld Nursing Home and Place St. Vincent, dedicating over 25 years of volunteer work and was considered a strong pillar in her community.

Family and friends are invited to Hillside Funeral Services, 362 Airport Rd North Bay Ontario on Saturday October 5 2024. Visitation will be from 10:00 am to 11:00 am with a Funeral Service from 11:00 until 12:00 pm. Following the Service the burial will be at the St John's Cemetery in Garson Ontario at 2:00 pm.
