After a brief illness Earl Phillips died peacefully on March 30, 2023 at the North Bay Regional Health Centre. He was in his 84th year.
Earl was the beloved husband of Barbara (Miller) and the loving father of John Phillips, Tom Phillips, Cory Phillips (Julia), Christopher Phillips (Louise), Debbie Stabryla, Karen Parker, Brenda Strong (Greg), Linda Boone (Rod), Sandra Boone (Rick), Robert Gravelle, Cindy Flynn (Nick), Richard Gravelle (Eva Lynn), Lorrie Diver (Danny), and Charlene Gravelle (Pete Allair). He was the proud and loving grandfather of 31 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.
Earl was predeceased by his parents John Knox (JK) and Ethel Phillips and by his sisters Gwendolyn Phillips (in infancy) and Marilyn Johnson and is survived by his brother-in-law Fred Johnson, niece Carole, and nephews John and Steven Johnson. Earl was a well-known and well-liked member of the Powassan community. Throughout his life he served many people as owner and operator of Phillips Country Service and Phillips Towing. Earl loved spending time with family and friends and enjoyed camping, travelling, having a good laugh and ketchup! Earl will be forever loved and missed.
The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, April 4th, 2023 at Paul Funeral Home, Powassan. Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, April 5th at St. Joseph’s Church, Powassan. Cremation to follow. Donations may be made in Earl’s memory to Parkinson Canada and the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada.
