Died peacefully surrounded by family at the North Bay Regional Health Centre on Tuesday, October 6, 2015. He was in his 83rd year. John was the beloved husband of Adele (Corbeil) and much loved father of John Jr. (deceased), Jennifer (Dan Berthiaume), Rosanne (Mark Blackadar), and Mark (Kathryn). Poppa to Jonathan, Amanda (Justin), Emilie (Ryan), Kyle, Andrew, Breanna, and Evan. Great Grandfather to Rachelle, Robin and Kinsley. He will be sadly missed by his brother Arthur (Helen deceased) and sister-in-laws Bernice Legris, Gloria Fenlon (Bob) and Joan McCauley. Pre-deceased by parents John and Rose Palangio, and brother Ron and brother-in-law Ed McCauley, Eric Campion Gerald Keech and Alf Legris and sister-in-laws Anita Campion and Corine Keech. He will be fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews. In his youth he studied piano at Saint Michael’s Choir School in Toronto. He was one of North Bay’s entrepreneurs owning Red-I- Ray Foods, Red-I-View, and The Ice Factory. He was instrumental in building 810 Main West which was at the time the tallest apartment building in North Bay. He enjoyed travelling with his wife and best friends Ron and Marjorie Charette. He was an active member of the Pro Cathedral of the Assumption serving on the church council and the Men’s Club. John was a 3rd Degree Knight of the 12030 Council. Visitation will take place from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Friday, October 9th at McGuinty Funeral Home (North Bay). Mass celebrating John’s life will be celebrated at the ProCathedral of the Assumption on Saturday, October 10, 2015 at 10 am. Private Interment at a later date.
