It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Dr. Kevin O'Grady, a beloved dentist, educator, environmentalist, and cherished member of the North Bay community. Kevin, who passed away at Cassellholme on Sunday, February 16th, 2025, at the age of 86 and leaves behind a legacy of compassion, dedication, and service to his patients, students, and the environment. He was creative and ever curious, always exploring and sharing with others. He had the mind of a scientist, the eye of an artist, and the hands of a maker. He wasn't afraid to try new things, and his sense of humour was an absolute delight.

Born and raised with a deep love for Northern Ontario and his community, Dr. O'Grady was a proud graduate of the University of Toronto, where he earned his undergraduate degree in botany and zoology before going on to graduate from the School of Dentistry. After completing his studies, he and Sandy chose North Bay, where he began his dental practice, building lasting relationships with his patients and offering exceptional care for 42 years.

Dr. O'Grady was also a passionate educator. He took great pride in teaching dental hygiene students at Canadore College, where his kindness, patience, and expertise shaped many careers in the dental field. His students remember him not only for his excellent teaching, but also for the personal guidance he gave them, always willing to go above and beyond to help them succeed.

Outside of his professional life, Kevin had a deep passion for the environment. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed spending as much time as possible outdoors. He delighted in sharing this passion with his children and grandchildren raising monarch butterflies, fishing, collecting fossils, and many other adventures. His love for nature extended to his work with the North Bay-Mattawa Conservation Authority and the Lake Nipissing Partners in Conservation, where he contributed his time and efforts to preserving the local environment. One of his proudest achievements was helping with the reintroduction of the Trumpeter Swan to Lake Nipissing, a project close to his heart.

Dr. O'Grady was not only a dedicated professional and educator but also a kind, generous, and thoughtful man. He will be remembered for his integrity, his love for the community, and his commitment to making North Bay a better place for future generations.

Kevin was the beloved husband of Sandra Raffaella (née Stirling). Loving father of Cathy Killaly and her husband Bradley of Ann Arbor, Michigan, Marion Freymann of North Sutton, New Hampshire, and Diane O’Grady of North Bay. He will be lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Brendan, Anna, Alek and Derek. Dearly loved brother of Katherine Whitely and her husband David. Kevin was predeceased by his parents Henry and Willa O’Grady, by his sisters Doris and Helen, and by his son-in-law Erich Freymann. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
