James Paul Norrie (Jim, Jimmy)

It is with great sadness, Jim’s family announces his passing at the North Bay Regional Health Centre on Friday, July 5, 2024. James was the beloved husband of Sheryl (née Pletsch) for 53 years. Jim was in his 75th year. Loved by his son James and daughter-in-law Catherine and will be lovingly remembered by his grandsons Jay and Jonah. James was the dear brother of Lynda. He will be remembered by his brother and sister in laws: Lois, Ephrem, Jackie, Bob and Lena. Loved by his many nieces and nephews as well as his extended family and many friends, with strong ties to his family in Nova Scotia. Predeceased by his parents, James and Margaret Norrie, and sister, Catherine.

James, a dedicated professional, spent many years as a Contract Inspector, for the City of North Bay, on many municipal construction projects including the North Bay Waterfront and the Main Street “Big Dig”. His love for sports was evident in his many years of football, slow pitch, golfing at the North Bay Golf & Country Club and curling at the North Bay Granite Club. He was a friend to many and cherished his Coffee Club discussions with the gang and the “TGIF’s” with the neighbours. He loved life on Four Mile Bay.

James spent many hours in the hospital battling cancer, where he received excellent compassionate care from the staff: nursing, medical, housekeeping and dietary to name a few. His family truly appreciates the professionalism and genuine care this special group of people provided to Jim and his family.

The Norrie Family will be hosting a Celebration of Life for James (Jim, Jimmy) Norrie for family and friends. The celebration will be held at The Portage Pub Restaurant (Peninsula Road, North Bay) on Sunday, August 11, 2024 from 2pm to 6pm. Please join us to share memories of a life well lived.

If desired, donations to the North Bay Regional Health Centre Foundation will be gratefully acknowledged as expressions of sympathy. Arrangements are entrusted to the Martyn Funeral Home, and online condolences can be offered at www.martynfh.com
